ENERGY AUDITS

The challenge

All those companies which are not considered as small and medium-sized enterprises need to perform an energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 until 5th December 2015. Those companies which already use an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 or an environmental management system in accordance with EMAS will be exempted from the obligation. The Federal Government tries to increase the energy efiiciency of companies with this regulation.

  • All companies which employ at least 250 people or that have an annual turnover of 50 million euros and whose balance sheet total exceeds 43 million euros are not considered as small and medium-sized enterprises and it must be demonstrated that they have conducted an energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1 until 5th December 2015.
